102 THE BALLAD OF THE WATERFALL See Brown, p. 11.
Obtained from Miss Mabel Hall, Guerrant, Breathitt County, Kentucky, January, 1932.
1.  Come, all you that have been in love, And sympathize with me,
For I have loved the fairest girl That ever you did see.
2. Her age, it was but seventeen; She was a figure fair and tall; She was a handsome creature; She wore a waterfall.
3.  The first time I saw her, I never will forget;
I went into a dry goods store, Some handkerchiefs to get.
4.  She stood behind the counter. A glance did on me fall.
I never saw a fairer face Nor such a waterfall.
